Our Projects

Capacity

Girl Power

This is a sustainability project we’ve co-created with a number of stakeholders – the National Sports Federation, the Government Ministry of Education and the local Link coaches. Over 5 years the S4d pathway system has built the capacity of this team of athletes to become the best players for their age. The next battle is to build a robust community around these national champions that can counter the cultural norm girls in this region face to leave school at 12 years old and cook for the family. Enabling these girls to become educated by staying at school and continue to compete for their country in their chosen sport, will produce role models who can, when older, speak positive encouragement back into the lives of millions of other girls and women across the globe and most powerfully back into the unjust society they come from.

“I am thrilled and inspired to see the progress of the project. To see the level of players that I worked with on my visit there in 2015 and to hear about their progress and results is truly a testament to what Scott and his team are doing in giving these youth a chance to succeed.”

Capability

New Horizons

Growing up in a post war zone has not stopped these S4d Link coaches picking up a new sport and taking it to an entire region that had never played this sport before. 6 years later they work with over 4500 students every month in S4d First Step programs. In working with this National Association for over 7 years the S4d system is now seeing the Link coaches themselves build the capabilities of new Link coaches that have been developed through the S4d First Step program. The ultimate goal of this project is for the S4d Link Coaches to, in partnership with the various national stakeholders, establish development programs in a further 12 Provinces in the country that do not yet play this sport.
